Lamé

At the end of the Belle Epoch tastes shifted to the most decidant and luxurious of textiles. The premerie textile manufactures developed a technique of weaving real gold plated metal and real silver with silk. These very expensive fabrics and laces were first used by the couture houses Le Boué Soeurs and Paul Poiret. Because of the luxurious and exlcusive nature of the textile, often being hand printed and woven, Chanel and Lanvin soon there after included these textiles in their collections. Silk lame fell out of vogue by the 1940's due to it's cost to manufacture. In todays market these antique silk lames have only accrued in value, samples of which are represented in all of the world's finest museums. With 20 years in the business, Morphew globally sources these rare textiles for our own 21st century creations. Our new designs echo the lines of the past with an eye towards what the woman of today wants to wear. From our Paul Poiret inspired cocoons to our Vionnet inspired bias cut gowns. We hope to preserve these textiles for future generations as well as give them a new life for the modern wear.
