The hippy movement of the late 1960s carried into the 1970s and designers sought to emulate the look with pastoral floral prints, suede and flowing “Young Edwardian” styles. Inspired by the past many also have a Renaissance feel to them. This quickly changed as the worlds of funk and disco began to take over. Bias cuts saw a return as well as chiffons, emulating the stars of the silver screen. Full gowns of sequins and lamé shined through the night.
