Junko Koshino

“I often say that, the clothing industry has three elements: materials, technology and design.” -Junko Koshino

Osaka born designer, Junko Koshino, is a master at juxtaposing utility and conformity with self expression and style. Koshino studied at the Bunka Fashion School in Tokyo. After graduating in 1961 she took a different approach from her contemporaries, Kenzo and Matsuda and stayed in Tokyo, opening her first boutique there in 1966. She was a futurist and her space-age designs were reminiscent of Cardin. She is most famous for her uniform design, creating all of the uniforms for the 1990 Beijing Asian Games and the 1992 Japanese Olympic volleyball team.
