Herve Leger

Herve Leger

“Herve has that sex appeal. Certain bodies need Herve Leger badly because you have to reformulate the silhouette.” -Max Azria on Herve Leger

Female curves have been Herve Leger’s biggest design inspiration. His form-clinging dresses highlight the wearer’s shape beautifully and his style has inspired many of today’s popular bandage style dresses. Leger began his foray into fashion design working as an assistant to Karl Lagerfeld. He followed Lagerfeld from Fendi to Chanel and perfected his skills in cutting.

He continued freelancing for Lanvin, Chloe, and Diane Von Furstenberg until launching his first collection in 1993. He created his signature “bender” dress, a form fitting style composed of strips of elastic and rayon that fit hugged the wearer's shape with extra panelling used to highlight the waist and bustline.
