Chloe

Chloe

French designer, Gaby Aghion, and her husband, Raymond, started Chloe in 1952. The name came from Gaby’s ideal fashion forward woman. She rejected the rigid structural fashions of the 1950’s popularized by Dior and designed free-flowing clothing in soft fabrics and pastel colors. Her designs were accessible, available off the rack which was unique for the time and was credited for inventing the term “pret-a-porter” (ready to wear.) Aghion took young designer Karl Lagerfeld under her wing and he later became head designer in 1992. Chloe’s vintage fashions were a return to light, fresh and accessible clothing for modern women of the day.
